Prolozone Q & A
What is Prolozone?
Prolozone is an injectable treatment that contains a potent form of oxygen called ozone. Your body must have the right amount of oxygen to regenerate the new tissues needed for healing.
When wounds don’t get enough oxygen, and they’re slow to heal, Prolozone delivers a boost of ozone that:
- Relieves your pain
- Reduces inflammation
- Energizes cells
- Triggers tissue regeneration
- Accelerates healing
- Boosts circulation
- Stimulates growth factors
- Strengthens the immune system
- Increases oxygen use inside cells
Your Prolozone injection also contains a local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory and tissue repair homeopathic ingreients, and B- vitamins and amino acids that support healing and improve oxygen utilization inside cells. When you improve the oxygen utilization of the cells, they immediately become healthier and repair, thus relieving pain and restoring function.
Since ozone is a gas, it expands to cover the surrounding area. No matter where your provider injects Prolozone, it thoroughly treats the damaged tissues.
What conditions improve with Prolozone?
Many problems that cause pain can improve with Prolozone, as it stimulates new tissue growth, even for tissues that don’t heal on their own, like cartilage.
A few examples of conditions often treated with pain include:
- Neck pain
- Whiplash
- Herniated discs
- Degenerated discs
- Low back pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tendon tears
- Sciatica
- Neuropathy
- Rotator cuff tears
- Knee injuries
- Osteoarthritis
The team at Alternative Physical Medicine of Colorado may recommend Prolozone for sports injuries and any musculoskeletal problem that causes pain in your hip, knee, or other joints.
What happens during my Prolozone treatment?
Before you get a Prolozone injection, your provider at Alternative Physical Medicine of Colorado reviews your medical history and symptoms, completes a physical examination, and performs diagnostic ultrasound if needed.
If they determine that you need a Prolozone injection, you simply relax while having the procedure. The injection causes little to no pain because they use a fine needle and apply a topical numbing cream.
You may have slight soreness afterward at the site of your injection. Otherwise, side effects seldom occur.
Ozone quickly reduces the production of biochemicals that cause inflammation. As a result, many people notice an improvement in their pain after one injection.
Though one injection makes a difference, often times patients need several ozone injections spaced apart to achieve optimum results. After completing a series of Prolozone treatments, you should have long-lasting pain relief.
Another poitive attribute of ozone is that it is anti-microbial, so the chance of infection is literally as close to zero as possible.
