K-Laser Q & A

What is the K-Laser?

The K-Laser is a cutting-edge laser that incorporates several wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to induce beneficial effects within injured or damaged tissue. During K-Laser treatments, the laser light deeply penetrates damaged tissue at the cellular level.

The cells absorb this laser light and use it to improve function and energy production. Ultimately, this gives you a cascade of beneficial effects, including lost tissue regeneration, damage repair, and improved overall cellular function.

The K-Laser has not only multiple wavelengths but also multiple delivery modes, including continuous wave, modulated frequency, and super pulse, to better customize your treatment.

By tailoring the approach that's best for your pain patterns, you can attack pain in the most effective way and shorten the total treatment time.

K-Laser treatments are completely painless, and many people enjoy a pleasant warming sensation during their sessions. There's no recovery time needed after K-Laser treatment.

What types of conditions can K-Laser therapy treat?

K-Laser therapy can reduce inflammation, swelling, pain, and stiffness in many different areas. Some of the conditions it treats include:

  • Knee pain
  • Back pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Arthritis pain
  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
  • Sinus problems
  • Sprains
  • Shin splints
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendonitis

K-Laser therapy can help with musculoskeletal pain in virtually any area because it includes pretreatment scanning. Your provider uses a special probe to check for the nerves that trigger your pain. The probe can also assess your pain patterns to help your provider determine the best areas to apply the laser light for maximum effect.

How does laser therapy work with other treatments?

Laser therapy is 100% noninvasive, which means it can work well with many other non-surgical treatment modalities. The Alternative Physical Medicine of Colorado team may recommend chiropractic manipulation, spinal decompression, Trigenics®, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, or other types of treatment to further boost your healing and speed your recovery.

How many laser treatment sessions might I need?

The number of treatment sessions depends on your situation. Some people feel almost total pain relief after just a treatment or two.

But, for more serious injuries or pain, you could experience more gradual results. A full treatment protocol for severe pain is six sessions.
